The Fine Art of Discipleship
According to the Gospel of Matthew, his first words to some preoccupied fishermen were “Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people.”
His last words to his anxious followers, according to Matthew, were “Go and make disciples of all tribes, ethnicities, nations …”
Whether we are preoccupied or anxious or otherwise engaged, Jesus calls men and women to come to him, to come with him on the adventure of a lifetime,
and to invite others on this journey of life transformation. This becomes the core message, preeminent theme and primary activity of the church that Jesus continues to build: to become, to make and to multiply disciples of Jesus Christ … in a world desperate to discover meaning and purpose.
This is our calling, our reason for being Community Covenant Church here and now. This series will explore this way of doing church — of being the church — where everything is focused on forming faithful, fruitful followers of Christ.
