Before Jesus gave His followers their marching orders,
something we call The Great Commission, he sent them out relatively early in their time with Him. They were still learning — they certainly didn’t know everything they needed to know — yet Jesus sent them into a world that He knew would challenge them. These brave but raw Jesus-followers would be forced to trust that God would take care of them as they went.
Today, we find ourselves in similar circumstances. Jesus continues to send us out into a world that can be frightening, and that often challenges our faith and our convictions. How will we respond to the call that Jesus presents to each one of us? “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”
