Next Generation Pastor
Youth ministry is in my blood! As a teenager, I was greatly influenced by my youth pastor and my older brother who was studying youth ministry. I desperately wanted my life to make a difference, and I wanted to "pay forward" the investment that my mentors had poured into me. However, there was one problem, I was average. I was never a "leader" in any traditional sense of the word. I wasn't the captain of the football team. I wasn't the valedictorian. Matter of fact, I once had someone say to me "Who would ever follow you?" when I shared my interest in youth ministry.
During my senior year of High School, I began to see how God could use "ordinary me" to do extraordinary things. God was using my life to lead others to Jesus! This led me to study youth ministry at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN where I met my wife Amy. Since my graduation in 2000, I have served at churches in New Hampshire, Michigan, and Kansas City. Along the way we welcomed our two boys Jacob and Zeke and I was able to continue adding tools to my youth ministry toolbox with an M.A. in Youth Ministry Leadership from Huntington University in Indiana. Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping hundreds of "ordinary" students to engage in the extraordinary Mission of God. For me, there's nothing better than seeing a student embrace their identity as God's magnificent creation and give themselves to a life of blessing others.
So, come. The invitation is open. Come be part of an amazing family. Come be a part of something bigger than yourself. Come see how God can use your "ordinary" life to do extraordinary things!
