"I am a companion of all who fear thee." Psalm 119:63
You are invited to participate in a Spiritual Companion Retreat, first of it's kind coming to CCC on Nov 16 and 17. The theme for this retreat is "Journeying Together: An Introduction to Spiritual Companionship".
Journeying Together is in keeping with the strong traditions of our denomination through the formational question, "How goes your walk with Christ?"
Following in the footsteps of Jesus is not something that we do alone. This experience is designed to open the door of trust wider to enable us to encounter and encourage one another below the surface, down where we really live.
Learning to tell our own individual stories clearly and learning to listen to another's story with both intention and attention are essential parts of our faith journey. This retreat will help us to do this with confidence and grace.
We pray that the culture of our church will be strengthened, as we learn to listen and encourage each other.
The primary goal is then to equip you to nurture community life through the act of spiritual conversation. This retreat will highlight the teaching, learning and practicing of three essential companioning skills:
- Becoming a good listener
- Asking helpful, open-ended questions
- Telling personal stories clearly and well
Friday, Nov 16th, 7pm-9pm
Saturday, Nov 17th, 9am-3pm
Dr. Ron Ferguson
Ron and his wife, Jan, moved to Keene, NH in July 2007 to be the associate pastor at Monadnock Covenant Church. His primary focus is in the area of Christian spiritual formation. Prior to returning to full time ministry, Ron was a graduate student and then a professor for twelve years. In addition to a certificate in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary, Ron has master's degrees from Wheaton College, University of Alberta, Western Michigan University and a doctorate degree from Ohio State University.
