Prayer Week 2018

Plans are now being made for a week of emphasis on Prayer during the early part of January. We ask that you pray with us for God’s leading as we finalize the events that will be a part of this time of emphasis.

A major part of the emphasis for Prayer Week will be the distribution of a seven-session guide individual study and reflection. The Covenant will be finishing up the preparation of the guide for distribution to you in the church bulletins on the Sunday at the beginning of prayer week.

The prayer week theme will be about “Like a Tree Planted by the Streams of Water.” Recall that Jesus is quoted in John 7:38 that: “Whoever believes in me… streams of living water will flow from within him.” John explains; “By this he meant the Spirit whom those who believed in him were later to receive.” In John 4:13, Jesus says to the woman at the well: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water that I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Anticipate prayer week in January as a time to pray about your personal walk with the Lord and a time to pray for blessing on the ministry at Community Covenant Church during 2018.

Wednesday Evening Prayer Group

*NEW TIME* 3:30pm in room 122 (Prayer Room)

We welcome you to come to the Prayer Room at 3:30pm each Wednesday for an hour of earnest prayer. You can join with us in bringing to the Lord the requests that have been submitted on the Welcome cards during the Sunday morning worship. In addition, we express adoration and thanksgiving to the lord as well as personal requests and concerns about the challenges faced by our church and the missionaries it supports.

God has blessed this time of prayer over and over again. Now we look to the fall and the New Year and seek to redouble our dedication to pray fervently. There’s a place for you.

The importance of our prayer ministry

Jesus said in Mark 1:17. “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” We yearn for this to be true of Community Covenant Church. We want to obey the call to be “devoted to prayer”. We desire to support an active, vibrant prayer ministry that undergirds the whole activity of the church.

Paul says in Philippians 4: 6, 7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.
