Update on CCC Governance Changes

On August 11, 2013, the members of COMMUNITY Covenant Church voted overwhelmingly to move into a new model of governance known as the Leadership Team Model. This new model, as outlined in our new Bylaws, will take effect January 1, 2014 and be in place for a period of two years. Our Constitution, for the time being, will remain unchanged. This two-year period is essentially a “test-drive” to allow us to really understand, live with, and evaluate this new model before we make the changes permanent.

In one sense, this decision is the culmination of almost a year’s worth of concentrated work by the Bylaws Task Force and the Church Council. At the same time, it is just the beginning. Now we must take on the task of turning theory into reality.

Ultimately, the goal of this new model of governance is to make administrative leadership efficient and accountable, make spiritual leadership and development a priority and provide a framework that makes it easier to release people to do ministry. However, frameworks and Bylaws are meaningless without Spirit-filled, passionate people to bring them to life. While we feel that this model does a lot to encourage volunteerism and involvement, it cannot create volunteers nor can it do ministry. More than ever, we need you to find your place in the Body of Christ and engage in the mission of God here on Earth!
